NEW HEALTH CLINIC

LOCATION: Robinson River, NT
CLIENT: NT Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics
VALUE: $5.5 Million
STATUS: Completed 2017
DESCRIPTION:

Scope Building constructed the new Health Clinic in the very remote community of Robinson River in the Gulf country.  Over the course of this project Scope directly employed 16 f/t local Aboriginal workers who undertook training and were very much key participants in the construction and in maintaining Scope’s camp.

Scope made a major contribution to the community by undertaking tasks not included in the contract including demolition of redundant dwellings, removal of non-operative vehicles and assisting with renovation works to the local store, airport building and childcare centre.

High heat and access by air only for 8 weeks in the wet season were challenges successfully overcome.  Scope managed the complex logistics of organising the supply and storage of materials together with travel and accommodation for staff and sub-contractors.  Sub-contractors were employed from Borroloola, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Darwin and Alice Springs.

This project was similar in construction to the New Health Clinic built at Canteen Creek in the Barkly by Scope Building.  Facilities in the 660 sq m building included renal room, dental room,  reception, drug store, safe room, waiting rooms, consultant rooms, disabled access wet areas and utility rooms. Scope installed an extensive vapour barrier for 24-hour air-conditioning and also installed the diesel generator back up, satellite, communications  with duress and access controls.  To complete the complex Scope built perimeter fencing with sliding entry gate, concrete crossover, driveway and a carpark of approximately 900sqm,.

Following the successful completion of this project Scope went on to be awarded contracts for a the new police building, new houses and housing upgrades.
